From sunny St Petersburg

Do not adjust your settings, there is nothing wrong with this picture, except for the fact it is snowing … not the best day for our walking tour of St Petersburg!
We arrived in Russia’s second largest city 7 hours later than expected (via Warsaw and Helsinki) due to late running planes and missing a connecting flight – twas an experience and we did get to see St Petersburg by night!
St Petersburg is beautiful (though cold) and we managed to score opening night tickets to a new ballet, it had 3 acts and had it not been for a sharp eyed attendant we would have missed the 3rd … must be a Russian tradition to give flowers and curtain calls at the end of the 2nd!?!?!
We spent an entire day at The Hermitage one of THE largest art galleries in the world, though we could have spent a week! It has a whole room of Picasso’s and some floor to ceiling Monet’s – amazing!!!
We have done lots of walking, Mark loves pointing out the “far canal” (say it quickly) and we have both marvelled at the beauty of the women here, with Marks eyes wandering at every step! I think the Russian males attractiveness lies in their personalities or it is hidden under their winter coats as search as I might, not much eye candy for me!
In -4 temperatures we left St Petersburg (at midnight) on the over night train to Moscow where we are currently writing this … awake, thanx to the symphony of vodka induced storing by the neighbouring compartments! Not to mention the heat, it must be 40 degrees in here, yet outside the bleak landscape is covered in a thick blanket of snow!
Moscow station is imminent so we will sign off and brave the trains facilities with ancient toilet (that empties straight onto the track …).
Love and hugs and stuff
